Psychiatry Learning Map

About & disclaimer

This site is an educational overview of what a consultant psychiatrist typically learns in Malaysia, from pre-university science to consultant practice. It was put together for families and students who want to understand the whole journey.

It is not an official curriculum, syllabus or admissions guide. Programme names, durations, entry requirements, fees and examinations change and differ between universities and over time. Always check the current requirements with the Malaysian Medical Council, the National Specialist Register, the Ministry of Health, the universities concerned and the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Awareness levels are an informed educational estimate of the depth expected at each stage. They are not a formal standard.

Nothing on this site is medical advice. If you or someone you know is unwell, see a doctor. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to the nearest emergency department. In Malaysia, emotional support is available from Befrienders Kuala Lumpur (03-7627 2929) and the Ministry of Health's Talian HEAL (15555).
