The English language is a machine for thought — a system of sounds, words, syntax, punctuation and rhetoric that lets you say precisely what you mean and read exactly what others meant. This course builds that machine from the smallest gear to the whole engine, from kindergarten to college: from the letter, to the word, to the sentence, to the paragraph, to the essay, to the scholarly argument.
