Work out profit, gross margin %, and markup % from your cost and price — or solve for the selling price you need to hit a target margin or markup. Everything calculates instantly in your browser.
Profit as a share of the selling price. It tells you how much of each dollar of revenue you keep.margin% = profit ÷ price × 100
Profit as a share of the cost. It tells you how much you add on top of what you paid.markup% = profit ÷ cost × 100
Same profit, two different bases — so markup is always the larger number. A 50% markup is only a 33.3% margin; a 100% markup is a 50% margin. Margin can never reach 100% (that would mean zero cost), but markup has no upper limit.
