Saving your work and StatLab accounts
StatLab autosaves in your browser, can keep named projects in this browser, saves portable project files, and — if you create a free account with just a username and password — saves encrypted copies to your profile so you can continue on another device.
Where is my work kept?
| Option | Where | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Autosave | This browser | Recovery after closing the tab or a crash — the last session reopens automatically. |
| File → Save project in this browser | This browser (IndexedDB) | Named projects on one device; the last 5 earlier versions are kept (Projects in this browser → Earlier versions). |
| File → Download project | A .statlab.json file | Backups and moving work between devices without an account. |
| Account → Save to my profile | Our server, encrypted | Opening your work on any device after signing in; last 10 versions per project; 50 MB per account. |
Browser storage is cleared if you clear site data or use a private window — download a project file for anything important.
How do accounts work?
Account → Create account asks only for a username and a password; no e-mail is collected. There is no password recovery yet: if you forget the password, projects saved in your profile cannot be recovered, so keep a downloaded copy. Ctrl+S saves to your profile when you are signed in. Account settings lets you change the password, download all your data, sign out or delete the account and everything saved in it. Calculations still run in your browser; the server only stores the projects you choose to save.
