Charts
The Graphs menu draws histograms (with a normal curve), bar charts (counts or means), boxplots (with outliers labelled by case number) and scatterplots (with a least-squares fit line), and every chart can be saved as PNG or SVG.
Which chart should I use?
- Histogram — the shape of one scale variable; the orange curve is the normal distribution with the same mean and SD.
- Bar chart — counts per category, or the mean of a variable per category.
- Boxplot — median, quartiles (Tukey hinges), whiskers to the most extreme values within 1.5 box lengths; ○ outliers, * extremes, labelled with case numbers.
- Scatterplot — the relationship between two scale variables; the line, equation and R² come from a simple regression.
Charts are drawn on a white background so they paste cleanly into documents. A chart builder with more types is planned.
